Information

A key factor is choosing the right light fitting takes in many different aspects, but one that we would rank high up the priority list is the physical size of the product. When considering product size, one of the most important features is the height, or drop, of a fitting. Sometimes this can be variable, but we will always give the Minimum and Maximum drop of a fitting within the technical data. We advise that you check against your own ceiling height and measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the fitting as given in the technical data, if you are happy this will work for you then proceed with the purchase. If you are in any doubt with this please get in touch and we can try and help you out as needed.

Within the Technical Data are of all our products we have tried to give you as much information as possible. We will show details on the lamp holders and number of lamps the fixture can take, certain fixtures will NOT be supplied with the relevant lamps, this information should also be clearly stated. If the fixture as a fixed LED element we will give you the details on colour temperature, wattage and we will clearly state if the fitting is Dimmable or Not, please check this and if you require any sort of clarification or help with this, feel free to get in touch.

We will also state the IP Rating of a fitting, normally referred to as Ingress Protection. As a rule of thumb there is no requirement of a high IP rating for fixtures that have no chance of being in contact with water, most fittings for general areas will be IP20. It will come in to play more on other areas like Bathrooms and External Lighting, where contact with water is much more likely, for these areas we would recommend a rating of IP40 as a minimum. For more details on this please refer to our Blog post explaining IP ratings and how they are made up and graded.
